London Break to Visit Tutankhamun and First Emperor Exhibitions

Over the New Year we visited London to see the exhibitions of Tutankhamun at the O2 Bubble (Dome) and the First Emperor Terracotta Warriors) at the British Museum. We took advantage of a package from Superbreaks, staying in the 4* Hotel Russell in Russell Square, WC2 and combining entrance to the two exhibitions on consecutive days. The Hotel Russell is just around the corner from the British Museum.

I can strongly recommend the 4* Hotel Russell. Its central location makes it easy to travel around London. The Piccadilly Line tube station is next to the hotel and there are direct busses to Kings Cross/St Pancras International, Victoria, Oxford St, Trafalgar Square and nearby busses to the Tower of London and on to the Docklands. The open-top hop-on, hop-off tour busses also depart just up the road. We chose the Original Bus Co which included a free river cruise. It was fantastic to see London lit up between The Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London.

The Hotel Russell is a large hotel with every facility, superb copious buffet breakfast, spacious bedrooms and modern bathrooms and has recently benefitted from a £20 million refurbishment to provide the ultimate in luxury hotel accommodation and modern meeting rooms behind its original imposing Victorian facade. The normal room rate is from £94 for a single to £399 for a suite but Superbreaks offered us an incredible bargain rate for three nights including entrance to the two exhibitions.

No photos are allowed in the two exhibitions but you can photograph freely in the British Museum. I took these photos:

Through the Superbreak site, customers can book hotels, rail tickets (many at special rates), Oyster cards for reduced prices on bus/tube travel in London, attraction tickets, tours and excursions, theatre tickets, top London shows, pop concerts and more specialist events such as the Edinburgh Tattoo, Royal houses tours, golf breaks and mini-cruises. They also sell gift vouchers from just £10 so if you want to offer theatre tickets, a London show, entrance to an attraction etc, this is a great way of allowing the recipient a wide choice. Superbreak can also put together packages for spa breaks, golf breaks and trips to other European cities. I thoroughly recommend them.
